sol cabrini

sol cabrini is a poet, author, artist, and scholar from chicago. her practice spans theory, sound, visuals, and poetry, utilizing a fugitive use of english and kouri-vini (louisiana creole) to trace historical scenes of contact steeped in moments of untranslatability.

considering these movements—particularly how she approaches everyday relations and historical fragmentation not as loss, but as a method for gathering, studying, and sensing—her time at gmtc, titled please hold, will express a simple wish: "i want to be in space with people by conversing, thus convening.”

sol cabrini invites audiences to 40-minute one-on-one conversations at gmtc (210 canal st, rm 310, nyc).

fragments from these encounters will be imprinted on copper that grows over time. sessions take place two days a week, on tuesdays and sundays, with three sessions per day for a total of 30 participants. the residency runs from march 10 to april 12, culminating in a final open performance on april 18.
