action 2: throwing, shaping & rinsing
july 26, sunday, 3-6pm
(3-4:30pm at gmtc and then 4:30-6pm at the columbus park)

tejiendo a san benito

the gelified rum is released into a salt bath, where it transforms into yarn and other shapes. some of the material is pressed through syringes to form long strands, while some is thrown directly into the bath, producing less controlled forms. the material is then collected and rinsed in water.

this participatory action draws inspiration from the collective gesture of throwing rum during the celebration of San Benito. visitors are invited to participate by forming strands, throwing the gel into the salt bath, and rinsing the resulting pieces.
