𝒂𝒚𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒐 (𝒂 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒖 & 𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒉) and 𝒂. 𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒉𝒆𝒏 with jenny wu

about the performance:
𝒂𝒚𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒐 (𝒂 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒖 & 𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒉) will present “offerings,” a performance that explores precolonial korean mythology, eco-spirituality, and ancestral memory through oral recitation and contemporary dance. the performance will be followed by dreams exchange, an invitation for audience members to write down a dream in exchange for a small hand-thrown vessel.

💫 𝒂𝒚𝒅𝒐 was founded in 2020 by artists 𝒂 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒖 and 𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒔 𝒐𝒉 in new york. together, the duo merges their respective expertise in performance, video, sculpture, and site-specific installation to create an interdisciplinary practice that explores intergenerational diasporic narratives through eco-spiritual perspectives.

𝒂𝒚𝒅𝒐 has exhibited widely at institutions including the shed (ny), bronx museum of the arts (ny), cantor arts center, stanford university (ca), museum of arts and design (ny), christie’s inc. (ny), canal projects (ny), hub-robeson galleries, penn state university (pa), elizabeth foundation for the arts (ny), chashama (ny), artist alliance (ny), ahl foundation (ny), fashion institute of technology (ny), and the immigrant artist biennial (ny), among others. their work has been supported through residencies at art omi, skaftfell art center, recess art, sculpture space, catwalk institute, and dongguk university. 𝒚𝒖 received her mfa from columbia university and bfa from rhode island school of design. 𝒐𝒉 received his mfa from rhode island school of design and ba from san francisco state university.

💫 𝒂. 𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒉𝒆𝒏 is a writer from cincinnati, oh. she holds an mfa from the university of montana and has received support from high desert test sites, joshua tree, ca. her fiction, journalism, and criticism have appeared in publications including the new york times, los angeles times, artreview, and the nation. she lives in new york.
