𝒉𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒓𝒐, 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂 and 𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒚 with jenny wu

about the performance:
artists 𝒉𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒓𝒐 and 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂, who last performed together in “maju” (2023) at project space sarubia, will rehearse a new performance involving a candid dialogue paralleled with manipulation of objects.

💫 𝒉𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒓𝒐 is from seoul, korea, and currently lives and works between new york and seoul. through narrative-based performances, sculptural objects, and videos, she explores the space where world events and autobiographical narratives intersect and echo into universality. her recent solo exhibitions include ”august is the cruelest“ at doosan art center (seoul, korea; 2025) and ”niro“ at canal projects (new york, ny; 2024). she holds an mfa in sculpture from yale school of art (2021).

💫 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂 is from fukuoka prefecture in japan, and currently lives and works in philadelphia, pa. he is a caretaker, companion, lifeguard, cook, record keeper, teacher, cleaner, emotional support, playmate, enabler, student, chauffeur, tour guide, acorn spotter, enemy, observer, ally, and bad example to his two year old child.

he is also a sculptor and experimental musician who makes time-based sculptures, synthetic organisms, and musical instruments to explore parasitic companionships in the form of improvisational music, sound installations, and performances. he holds an mfa in sculpture from yale school of art (2022).

💫 𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒚 is an art writer and professor of english at hostos community college, cuny. he is the author of ’the way things go‘ (punctum books, 2023), which is written as a book-length oulipian ”melting snowball,“ and ’exercises in criticism‘ (dalkey archive, 2015), which uses various procedures to write poetic and autobiographical criticism about literary constraint.
