𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒊 𝒔𝒖𝒏 & 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍 𝒈𝒖𝒉𝒊𝒕 and 𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒍 with jenny wu
october 9th, thursday 6-7:30pm
about the performance:
new york–based collaborators 𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒊 𝒔𝒖𝒏 and 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍 𝒈𝒖𝒉𝒊𝒕 will rehearse a new participatory performance that picks up where their piece warmer layers—which debuted at helena anrather in 2024—left off. their new performance seeks to give form to computation through 画蛇添足 (to draw legs on a snake), seeing software not through its inputs and outputs, but as a process of restless and considerable force.
💫 𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒊 𝒔𝒖𝒏 (b. 1996) explores the re-creation of embodied experience and its inevitable failure. 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍 𝒈𝒖𝒉𝒊𝒕 (b. 1986) is an artist based in new york city who explores systems and their peripheral experiences.
𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒊 and 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍 have performed and exhibited at haus der elektronischen künste (basel), ars electronica festival (austria), artists space (new york), smack mellon (brooklyn), helena anrather (new york), among others. they both received their mfas in fine arts from parsons school of design at the new school, and have been artists-in-residence at 99 canal (new york) and eyebeam (new york).
💫 𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒍 is an artist, writer, and editor based in new york. she produces systems of sculptures that often respond to a site’s architecture or history; involve subtle, laborious, often absurdist uses of vernacular objects and materials; critically reflect on changing technologies; and push against the limits of language and image. her writing has been published widely over the past decade in exhibition catalogues and publications including art in america, artforum, artreview, the brooklyn rail, and mousse magazine. she recently coedited the book track changes: a handbook for art criticism (paper monument, 2023).
